Mustang 5.0L Throttle Body Guide
Individual Throttle Body vs Kit
Each throttle body is sold individually or in a kit. Gaskets are included. The throttle body does not include mounting hardware or other screws.
The individual throttle body includes one throttle body gasket and one IAC gasket.
Each kit includes a throttle body and a choice of a 2″ EGR spacer, or, a 2″ Blank spacer, plus two throttle body gaskets, one IAC gasket and one EGR gasket, where applicable.
The 2″ EGR spacer is 2″ thick and has vacuum tubes, water passages, and provisions to mount the stock cable bracket and includes two throttle body gaskets and one EGR gasket.
The 2″ Blank spacer is 2″ thick and is solid aluminum (no water passages and no vacuum tubes) and has provisions to mount the stock cable bracket and includes two throttle body gaskets.
Not listed on the chart above, but available separately, is our Cable Bracket spacer. This unit is 3/8″ thick and is solid aluminum, sized 65mm-105mm and has provisions to mount the stock cable bracket and includes two throttle body gaskets.
Throttle Body Versions
STANDARD – The mm size is measured at the blade and has a stock vacuum elbow provision. Also, the throttle body has a small lip on the inlet and connects with standard hose and hose clamps. The barrel is relatively straight, meaning, no taper down effect as seen in the race version.
RACE – The mm size is measured at the blade, however, ALL race versions sized 65mm-90mm have a larger 4″ inlet or opening and will need 4″ tubing. The race throttle body does not have a vacuum elbow. A fabricated 4″ hose or tube from the filter or supercharger is required to fit over the inlet of all race versions. For example: a 75mm Race version has a larger 4″ inlet which tapers down to 75mm at the blade. Furthermore, the 105mm has a 4.5″ opening.
MAX – The mm size is measured at the blade, however, the throttle body has a clamshell clamp style ferrule machined into the inlet. This ferrule allows for the use of an Accufab clamshell clamp (sold separately) to connect the tubing to the throttle body. This connection is very secure, especially when used in turbo or supercharged applications. Also, the MAX version does not have a vacuum elbow.
V-BAND – The mm size is measured at the blade, however, the throttle body has a V-band style ferrule machined into the throttle body. This ferrule allows for the use of a V-Band clamp (sold separately) to connect the tubing to the throttle body. This connection is very secure, especially when used in turbo or supercharged applications. The main difference between the V-Band and the MAX is the type of clamp used. Also, this version does not have a vacuum elbow.
